Sow the Seeds of Love

Reach Out has had countless opportunities this past decade to sow the seeds of love. Since 1998, volunteer caregivers have helped our elderly and disabled neighbors with shopping, visiting, minor home repairs, yard work, household chores, visiting, and much more. More than 100,000 hours of service have been given through Reach Out and all in our own backyard. Thanks to the generosity of our faith community and our angel army, Reach Out remains privately funded allowing greater flexibility to respond to those in need. We live in a very special community in which we value our neighbors and are willing to go above and beyond to help one another. I ask you to continue to show your concern for your neighbors; tell someone about Reach Out, our mission, our services. Encourage a friend to volunteer, to donate, to pray. Together we can make sure Reach Out thrives in the next decade of service.

FROM VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, BILLIE FLATTER:  Hello to all my neighbors and volunteers. I have been working at Reach Out for over 2 months now and things are going right along. I am sure enjoying my new job. I can't think of having any other job that would give me such satisfaction.

For all my neighbors….some of you I have been able to get out and meet personally or had a     conversation with on the phone, but there are still a lot of you I have not been able to meet yet. If you would like to meet me, feel free to stop by the office in the afternoons and say hello, or call and invite me over for a visit.

And now to all my volunteers….what a wonderful group of people you all are. This program would be nothing without you. Up to now, I never realized how important a volunteer really is and how much our neighbors really appreciate you. I know that I truly appreciate all of you and the hard work you do to make our community a better place to live.

FROM VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, SARA SMITH I would like to say thank you to all my neighbors and volunteers for being patient with me while I was settling in. I would like to also give a big thanks to my office volunteers, Sharon, Gwenda, Connie & Mary Ellen for being so patient and helping me get settled in and for working with me so well. I am so thankful to be part of the Reach Out team and love every minute of working with our neighbors and  volunteers. I am so thankful that all my neighbors and volunteers have made me feel so welcomed and have been so open minded about having someone new to work with.

We are so very proud of our   volunteers,
LaDonna Thorson & Bob Connors. Both were honored recently by the Basin-wide Foundation. LaDonna was named the Volunteer of the Year while Bob received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Both help out of our Yucca Valley office and have the biggest hearts. LaDonna is matched with three ladies for visiting; each week they get together for lunch, some exercise and socializing. These ladies are able to remain in their own homes thanks to LaDonna’s weekly contact. Bob, a Reach Out Ambassador, Parade of Homes docent and all around handyman is well loved throughout the basin for his charitable work and we are blessed to have them both on board. Congratulations LaDonna & Bob.
